Players Of The Year Crowned

Scratch

John Cicero dominated the scratch field to win back to back scratch player of the year honors.  John appeared in 14 of 17 events, making the finals 10 times.  Of the 10 finals he appeared in he was the last man standing 4 times (2 of which were majors).

Handicap

Joshua Wixom used slow steady determination to win the handicap player of the year honor.  Joshua appeared in all 17 events, making the finals 3 times.  He won the season opening "Rocky Mountain Championship".

Rookie of the Year

Mike St. Peter worked hard to put himself in position to win this honor.  He appeared in all 17 events, Making the finals a combined 7 times.  He cemented this honor with his first title at "The Centennial Championship".

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us.

Charles Dickens was not writing about The Open Championship 2012 on the Front Range Challenge Tour, but if he were, the two bowlers it would be about would be John Cicero and Joshua Wixom.  One bowler experienced the best of times, earning another win en route to winning a Bowler of the Year award with authority.  One bowler experienced the worst of times, as he watched his nemesis seize the opportunity.  John Cicero was experiencing the season of Light.  Joshua Wixom was experiencing the season of Darkness, unless of course you take into account the Handicap Division Bowler of the Year, in which case, he had everything before him, except for his closest competition, which was behind him.

The tournament was dominated by Joe Decker, a man who bowled so well that he was nearly accidentally given the Bowler of the Year Award, but the reigning Rookie of the Year, Mike St. Peter, jumped in at the last second to avert the mix-up.  Yet, a dominating afternoon and a 229 in the title match was not any match for the suddenly surging John Cicero, who bowled on the same pair as Joe Decker 13 games during the course of the day.

Erik Montes, entering his first career tournament, was nearly eliminated from the Handicap side, seemingly ten thousand times, yet he survived when he needed to and he bowled well at even more appropriate times as he earned his first career title against the man with computer hands, Keith Hausam, who was also searching for his first career title.
